Cruel Intentions (1997)

Who’s in it
Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Selma Blair, Ryan Philippe
What was good
If you like evil, seduction and devious teenagers who act 12 years more sexually advanced then they should be, then this is a good movie for you. I like it for the dark humor related to the content, and the beautiful people and the characters they play, the whole movie is kind of a tease.
What sucked
The acting isn’t the best, Philippe is hard to swallow most of the movie even though he does have some comic delivery. But this movie is really dated for me now. It does deal with high school type betrayal and lust and other adult concepts in young kids and can be hard to relate to or even believe.
Who should go see this
If you like those high school / college movies, this just isn’t the party type. This is not a date movie, and this isn’t a movie I would watch on a first time couples date, more of something that I would watch maybe if you really like Reese Witherspoon. She seems really young in this movie, but beyond that, if you like this genre you’ll like this but I don’t know who I would actually recommend this to among my friends, it would be very limited.

Sarah and I were both exhausted when we got home from work. We crashed with our headaches in front of the tv and watched a movie, and got to bed really early.

Chronicles of Narnia (2005)

Who’s in it
No one you know, many animated animals and Gabriel from Constantine
What was good
Very good job of bringing this story to life, from the main characters such as Aslan and the children, to the scenery and the fantastic sci-fi world, the wardrobe, the fully animated characters, etc. etc. Weta, that worked on Lord of the Rings, also worked on the costuming for this one as well. But really true to the book from what I remembered, and with Disney at the helm I think they watched over the intended audience. Having said that…
What sucked
Having Disney at the helm, and that this movie came after LOTR, I felt really bored through a lot of this movie. I know it is for kids, but I thought that it was awkward how far out of the way they tried to cut out most violence. Most of the violence is to animals, and they just fall over, and I am not saying you need that, but if you are going for a realistic subject for some of these animated characters, you need to go all the way not just pick and choose what makes sense to keep parents happy. Plus, this movie felt low budget at times, because watching this movie, it is hard to not compare it to LOTR, and in that class, you really have to equal or push new ground and that was hardly the case with this one. There were some funny green screen moments, and more tell than show at parts to really get a grasp for the characters especially the Ice Queen.
Who should go see this
I would recommend this to most people, because I think most will like this. Fun, adventure, magical and visual, and true to a great Christian based story. But for anyone who has particular taste you may not like this for your own personal enjoyment. Parents will love it, 20 somethings maybe not if you don’t have a Christian background and empathize in what the director was balancing.
27th March 2006
Today was another lazy day. I made it through some other miscellenous stuff, and I also did a ton more research on the arcade game thing.
Christine came over at just after 1 to get Lady and bring over Chicken Barbeque pizza for lunch from Donatos, very good. She’s a kook, I love her, always such a fun time when we are all hanging out.
Then the rest of Sunday went by pretty standard, we talked to a whole bunch of people, watched another movie and some tv, and went to bed at a reasonable hour.
Dogsit Lady

Christine is always so nice and will drop off her dog to play with. The second photo here from earlier today really captures the dog’s cute and silly antics when she gets playful.
Airheads (1994)

Who’s in it
Adam Sandler, Judd Nelson, Brendan Fraiser, Steve Buscemi, Michael Richards, Chris Farley, Amy Locane
What was good
This is a fun goofy concept, three band guys take a radio station hostage to get their music played. They can’t break through, Fraiser keeps trying to sneak into major radio exec. offices but this time sneaking in leads to some rash thoughts and before they know it they are making demands for football helmets full of cottage cheese. The juvenile reasoning is humorous, and the supporting cast is perfect.
What sucked
The movie isn’t too dated, just the stars of the movie in this movie. I think if anything, this movie doesn’t have the lasting lines that other comedys have, and Fraiser as a lead is funny, but Fraiser has always had problems defining if he was a funny man with heart, a funny hero, or just a complete idiot. Without that strong lead character I think that the weight is equally spread among all of the characters
diluting the whole movie somehow.
Who should go see this
If you like SNL movies, Chris Farley has a smaller part, and this is one of Sandler’s first movies with some of his less polished goofiness that he created on live tv. This is a good Friday night party movie, not a lot of thinking, good humor, and a short movie to boot, if you were in high school in the 90’s, you should find this movie entertaining.
26th March 2006
New photos of lady, not looking like a big black puppy abominous hole. In the daylight you can actually see what she looks like, and if you look close enough at the second photo, the dog’s expression is priceless and she only had one foot on the ground.
What did we do Saturday you ask?
In the morning, we took lady for a walk, drove down to Family Video and the walked the rest of the way to Long’s Donuts.
When we got back home Sarah and I both chilled around the house. I did some miscellaneous things I didn’t get through during the week and did a lot of research on old arcade games trying to figure out what I wanted to do. Half way through the day I figured I should just buy an empty cabinet and convert it as necessary, that would be the cheapest route to get something I wanted, so then I tried to figure out where I could get empty cabinets close to Indianapolis. There are a whole bunch of cool communities online dedicated just to rebuilding and buying arcade games, so I got involved in those, and have been reading some interesting information. I also know at the end of April there is an auction here in Indy, so I am going to try to go to that.
Around 6 we headed out over to Sarah and Jeff Styf’s house. Jeff’s birthday is on Tuesday so they wanted to have some people over for dinner, Eric also was there, and that was a lot of fun. Nice selection of things to drink, we hung around and talked while we waited for the beer butt chicken to finish. The dinner was great, and then we watched a couple of things on Jeff’s huge, something like 60″ tv with surround sound, always a good thing.
Sarah and I watched a movie when we got back home until we fell asleep.

I may be able to trade for a Jr. Pac-man?
An interesting opportunity presented itself tonight, with a possible trade for a Jr. Pac-man machine located in MI. I am hoping this
can work out, great location and potentially an easy trade. Stay posted.
