28th October 2006

We woke up later because of how late we were up, so we had to rush around a little to get ready. We switched cars with the Johnsons at Rick’s party, so we had the van to head up to the northside. We took out all the seats, and then headed up around 11:30 or so. We were going up to Westfield to pick up a new dishwasher for Sarah and the kitchen. I had found a lady in the classifieds that was trying to sell a kitchen as a set, a double set of appliances that they got by accident when they moved and had to sell off. It had never been used, brand new, so we thought it would be a good deal.

Sarah hadn’t been in the process, so when we got there, she looked it over, and then asked if they could do a little better on the price. We ended up getting it for $275 brand new, so pretty decent deal, and we won’t have to worry about it working or not. Then we headed over to Zionsville to look at an Entertainment Center deal I found in the paper also. It is a nice piece of furniture, but huge, and would never fit in the basement and I will need help to even move it, two people won’t be able to do it more than likely. So, even though we had planned to use the van for that as well, it wasn’t going to work out on this trip, so maybe the second weekend in November.

Since we were on the northside, we had to stop at Chipotle and split a burrito for lunch, yum. The trip to get home just seemed to take forever though, and it wasn’t until 3 pm or so that we got back.

I then spent the rest of the day trying to figure out how to put the thing in. Wasn’t too hard I suppose, but a lot of stuff I am not used to, and laying on my side was highly irritating, and working in tiny spaces makes my blood boil a little. In the end, I did get it in, by around 7 pm or so.

We had a little dinner, and then I went up to the school and swapped cars back with Johnsons. There was a concordia band in for the night, and we were supposed to be hosting some students, four actually, all college guys. You never know what you get with College guys from Concordia that are in Band, but they seemed like nice enough guys. However, I was extremely ticked at the band, because someone that was in charge of the tour essentially required that we pack a lunch for every student. They didn’t ask, they put it in a way that was quite offensive to me. I ended up writing an email to the school about it, because this was not stewardship. It was never a money thing for us, but a manners thing. We probably would have sent food with them anyway, but when someone makes it seem like it is required after you open your home, and use a night of your precious weekend to get four big college guys and open your home to them, it just didn’t sit right in how a Christian organization should be. But Concordia has always been a racket, so to some extent I expect no less.

All of the running around during the day, and the frustration really tired me out, so Sarah and I went to bed early at about 11:00, tomorrow was a big day.
