Play an original Tron arcade game at the Indiana State Museum

Tron is one of the few arcade games that continues to hold its value. If you tried to purchase a working Tron arcade game right now, you’d find a price tag of over $1,000. A collecting friend in Minnesota sold a pristine Tron on eBay in early December for $2,200! Why not get your fix while you can for just a quarter downtown at the Indy State Museum.

Once you walk in the doors, head downstairs and to the back side of the stairs. The Tron cabinet is just outside the entrance to the IMAX theater, and you can walk up and enjoy a game or two without having to pay for admission to another exhibit.

Tron has landed in Indianapolis

I’m going to keep this post short, it is late. I had a travel buddy tonight, and I think he said it best when he said ‘deer, dogs and pumpkins – deer, dogs, and pumpkins!’. We saw some interesting parts of Bloomington Indiana tonight, that would have been treacherous even driving during the day. Let’s see, 5 deer eyeing the side of the truck, one dog chased the truck, and one pumpkin tried to bite the truck. We were destined to hit something.

I grabbed this Tron because it was a good, low cost deal. It is complete, but from what the owner said, not working. Currently a power supply issue, blowing a fuse.

I don’t have any intention of keeping the Tron, it isn’t a game that interests me. I’m still looking for a Sinistar in the Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, Kentucky area…or even one more state over bordering those. If you are looking for a Tron arcade game, drop me a line, maybe we can work a deal.

I also picked up an empty Pit Fighter cabinet. Hoping to have something more to talk about concerning that tomorrow….

Update: Late Dec. 2009 At the time that I got this Tron arcade game south of Indianapolis, I had a trade lined up for a Sinistar. However, it involved me driving north of Chicago to make the trade and I was looking for another option closer to home.

I didn’t find that option, and in early Dec. 2009 I traded this Tron machine for a Sinistar. I no longer have it. But if you have a Sinistar for sale in the states mentioned above do drop me a line.

Tron memoribilia value in anticipation of Tron sequel

Some of these Tron collector / memoribilia items should see a small increase in value as we near the release of the sequel next summer. I was pretty blown away to see the final price on this jacket, considering they came out in summer of 2006 selling for $90 a pop. According to Blogofwishes.com this Tron jacket is part of Adidas’ ‘Adicolor’ series, which was launched in 1983 as a line of shoes only that came with paints and brushes to design your own shoe. Certainly a ton cooler than the homemade Agent X jacket I posted about a while back.

Here are the photos from the auction (Click the last photo not from the auction to see a larger detail of the sleeve), a screen of the final auction price and the text describing the item;

Up for auction is a rare track jacket from Adidas from the Adicolor range which features graphics from the legendary Disney film, Tron. This jacket has been worn and washed and Tron graphics on the front, circuit board print on the sleeves and embroidered lightcycles on the back. There is a small tiny scuff on the left arm near the cuff (in picture 6) and there is a little bit of fraying to the baby blue trim on the arms. This is an amazing and very rare jacket and a must have for any Tron fan. The measurements for this jacket are: armpit to armpit is 22″ and from the back of the neck to the bottom of the jacket is 31″.

Rare? A 75% jump in price would support that argument, but I doubt we can classify it as such yet. Thanks to Chris on the update on when this jacket was actually released. Visit my Tron arcade game page for more information on the original classic cabinet.
