17th March 2007

Woke up today at a reasonable time right around 8:45. Sarah was already up and working on her schoolwork. I felt bad that it was so much work, especially on a weekend. Who wants to be doing that during the time that you should have off?

I ate breakfast at the table and then started working on the laptop. I made some layout changes, and I gathered up my research I had been doing on ebay since November on pricing for different parts for arcade stuff. Then about 11:00 I remembered about a message on the machine last night concerning our old banking account. I had to make a bunch of calls, and then I tried to get to the bank in time before they closed for the day, but just missed the time.

I left right before noon, and Sarah was still working. I knew she was done with her reading, and she had to design her final project, some sort of technology piece that she could make for her classroom that would take at least 10 hours of time. Pretty daunting.

I went over to the lady’s house who had the arcade stuff. In the end, I couldn’t buy all of it for the price I wanted, because I mostly didn’t want to mess with all of these tiny little parts unless it was really worth my while, and more importantly my time. I got a couple of things, a small box of capacitors, resistors, chips and fuses, an upright video game cover, two spools of 18-22 gauge wire, and of course my Dig Dug board that started this whole process really last July, and more recently again this past January. I let her know that I would try to sell the other stuff through the contacts I had, but I had found very little interest so far.

When I got home I ate something small and helped Sarah with her project of building a dream computer if money was no object. She had to write up everything, the parts and the prices. It was pretty cool talking to her about it, I think she was starting to really get some of it and understand, which means we have a touch more in common to talk about.

I then had a ton of freelance stuff I had originally said I was going to do before everything else came up for today during the week. I swear that there was smoke coming from the computer I was moving so fast, I can’t remember being that focused or working so efficiently. It sucked working that hard for essentially 5 hours straight, but in the end I finished what I said I was going to do, and my word is really important to me. Plus, barring some small changes, this project should just about be done.

About 2:30 Sarah finished her work. She had been working since 8:30 straight. She went upstairs and did some laundry and talked with Kate some. At 4:45 we left and went to the gym for our final workout of the week. When we got back, I had a little more work to do after I got showered, Sarah started some brownies and got cleaned up herself.

We made it over to Lori and Kenny’s house at around 7:30-7:45. Fun time, we had tostados which was a first for me, watched some basketball and Ricky Bobby and just hung out and talked. Sarah headed back to church around 8:30, we were housing two choir students for the night, so she brought them back for the festivities. The eligible people (read Grubbs and Rothes) had some sangria and finished off the night with some really bad SNL. Hopefully next week is better with Peyton Manning. We got home around 12:30.
