2nd February 2007

My throat soreness lessened today, but my tired, congested feeling didn’t, plus there was the dog to think about. We had limited time to get him into Banfield today, which would make work difficult. Our available times were from 12-2, or our other option was to call around and go to another vet. That is just what I did. He needed to have this Parvovirus test, and I wanted to get him in as soon as possible, because the time frames for him if he had it were so short. Fortunately my boss is such a great guy, and he let me take a half day to come home and take him down to Banfield.

I will say, that it was pretty traumatic experience though, calling around to two other places, getting mixed information, and not really knowing what to do. But the things I did learn were that if he had an advanced case of this virus, his symptoms would be much worse than they are.

It was about 2:30 when I got back from taking the dog in for a fecal sample, poor thing, two days in a row. But the test came back negative, which is good, plus we can now put him on their “Wellness” plan because he is “well”. After I called around to the other hospitals, I just decided that the location of Banfield, less than 3 miles away, and the convenience, open the same hours as Petsmart and on weekends, was just too good to pass up. Plus the yearly plan for the dog was really affordable, and they are licensed vets. I will say though, if I get time this weekend, I will be writing a short warning for others looking for a dog to avoid a similar experience when adopting from a shelter.

When we got home Kellogg just slept and I relaxed some, doing some artwork tracing for awhile. Sarah came home after school looking for some positive news and she got it, she really loves the dog probably more than I do, and she is such a nurturer.

We watched a movie, Firewall, until dinner time, and then had breakfast for dinner. Then I went back downstairs and did some more work, this time for a freelance assignment. I had to update my Office 2007 with the Vista release now out, which was a long time consuming pain, so I work intermittently on the tracing. Then about 10 pm I came upstairs to watch some more of a different movie, but the both of us just passed out, we were so tired.
