6th April 2007
I thought about Sarah’s party all day, I was pretty pumped to see how things went, and a touch nervous that she was going to put it together. There was a possibility that I was going to go over to Grubbs house after work to change a lightbulb in the car, but I was very tired and it continued to be cold outside so I just came home instead.
Got home and messed around with some freelance stuff, and did some things in the garage with the Dig Dug machine. I also got Christine’s comic in the mail today. We didn’t have a ton of time, but we wanted to try to watch an episode of Heroes before we got off to church. We got through about half an episode and we had to leave.
Service was better this year for Good Friday, considering I left without my car being damaged by hail:) After church, I had made arrangements with Wes and Kate to go out and kill some time together before our reservations at 8:45. Wes and Kate couldn’t make it to church, so we just met them outside and we all headed back to the house for a bit.
We had about 20 minutes, time for one beer, and for Sarah to get her gift from Kate, a movie. Then, all of sudden it was almost time to be there and we had to rush out. Fortunately, everyone seemed to be there. I was worried it would get unleashed at the last moment if we saw someone else pulling in.
We went inside, told them about our reservations and started walking towards the back. I had stopped in awhile back to scout the possible rooms, they ended up sticking us in the very back. Sarah apparently could see Brian coming around the corner, but she didn’t see the other 15 people sitting there waiting for her. As promised and requested by me, Kenny had pictures covered, even going above and beyond in taking video. I was pumped to see that. She didn’t act super surprised, but I think she was excited to see everyone.
Dinner was just awesome, I can’t say I have had food anywhere in Indy since I have been here quite as good as that, except maybe the Oceanaire. We both had steaks, and she got a complimentary desert for her birthday. The portions were huge, everyone was stuffed and everyone passed their dishes around for other people to try and finish off.
I was just so happy that everyone came. They don’t all know each other, but I think that it went really well, and it just gave me a great sense of belonging, our support group there to celebrate her birthday, and everyone just came without an issue. Everyone was just so great and made it a great night, and the night was just beginning. Dinner was fun, but it was going to get better.
I dropped the girls off on the way back, then went back out to get some Rum. When I got back, everyone was sitting in a circle in the living room. I busted out the games, I don’t think anyone played any of the cards I got out, but I was able to incite a game of 4 Kings, the most awesome drinking game ever. A handful of people played, and the rest hung out in the living room, sat around and chatted.
After Kings was done, Kenny was the ultimate winner:), I came into the living room to do a couple of questions with Christine on the Marvel Scene It game. I figured we could do a couple, but since it was only us two and the rest of the party was still going on, we should probably only do a few before I should get back to the other guests.
When we got done with that, I went outside and played cornhole with a couple of people. It was freezing, but we had a couple of takers. Emily and I were on a team, and we pulled it out in the end.
I don’t actually remember what happened directly after that, it has been a few days now. I know me and Emily did some Tequila since we are the only two that like shots of it, and then somehow, a huge group of us ended up playing the dice game. This game rocks, I had no idea, and it is so simple which is part of the reason why it is so great. You have a group of people, one pen, and each person had a piece of paper. When you roll a one, you start writing. You have to write all the numbers in order to 100. Everyone else keeps rolling, and when someone else gets a one, they steal the pen and you go back to rolling. Now, throw in that 6’s are something to, they make you rotate the paper to the left one person, the game gets crazy, especially with more people. We just had a ton of fun I think.
The majority of people left around 1:00. The Johnsons girls were cool enough to stick around and hang out, which gave Emily and I a chance to catch up and we watched a movie until 4 am when we finally called it a night. It was Sarah’s birthday, and I only know my perspective, but for the earlier part of the evening I know she enjoyed herself.
Then we headed out
