I had a pretty productive day. I had to wrestle with the dog, who has more and more energy all the time. I can’t wait to start to take him on walks and get him calmed down a little bit. I did a lot of artwork tracing and other relaxing work around the house, and before I knew it, it was 6:40. I had worked on the blog, got my bearings from the week, etc. etc. I wanted to get in a workout, so I decided to take my first ride of the season.

Got air in the tires, plotted out distance online, and headed out. I dropped off a movie at Blockbuster just north of us, then headed south, all the way to Main Street in Greenwood. I was hoping to do around 20 miles in total. While riding along in Greenwood, I was teetering on the edge of the sidewalk, so to avoid an accident I just went into the grass for a second. But having not ridden in a little while, forgot that the grass isn’t always as high as the sidewalk and bam, I went over the bike handles. Thanks God for the helmet this time, because after hitting my shoulder (seems to be a common theme in my wipeouts) my head hit next. I was alright in general, banged up my knee, scratches on my left palm and elbow, but not nearly as bad as downtown over a year ago when I separated my shoulder.

I was mad at myself for breaking my rule of never riding on the sidewalk. But I just figured, there were less hidden driveways down here, and that was the main reason, and I hadn’t been on the sidewalk long when it happened.

So, knowing before I left that I would be close to Culver’s I thought about going there. But wasn’t going to, until this happened. I was so mad, I had to have some comfort food, and take a breather. Then I stopped briefly at the comic store for free comic book day, and came home.

Got home and found out that Emily was in town for the night, so I headed over there after 10. We had margaritas and played some cornhole.
