5th November 2006
Today was just a fantastically long day. I got up at 7:00, just to make sure I could double check my packing, and ended up just watching some tv until it was time to go. A cab came and got us at 8 and we were on our way.
We had a lot of time in the Melbourne airport, our first flight wasn’t until around 11:30 or so. That flight went well, and then we had to get our bags because we switched airlines and then a whole bunch of other hoops before we were able to get on the plane to San Francisco. Dave had to get an extra bag because his was now too heavy to bring back so he had to distribute the weight into another bag, go figure.
I did my final souvenir shopping in the ever affordable airport shops where you just kind of put your rear end up on the counter because they own it if you buy anything there. I went to get on the plane, and thought that no one was there yet, so I just sat down. But fortunately I got up and looked again because it said last call, and when I got on, everyone was actually ready to go and I was one of “those people” that walks on like an idiot 25 minutes late or whatever.
I personally thought the flight home from Sydney was shorter than there, even though it was an hour longer. We barely had a layover in San Fran after we went through the fun of customs and we were back on the plane for another almost 5 hours. This was the flight that never ended. All I remember from the plane was, one movie, and a continuous stream of people using the bathroom. Seriously, I don’t think the line was ever shorter than five people. I got to meet a lot of people coming out, or at least their backsides as I had to mush right up against them to get through the ample aisle space.
We got to Chicago and had to walk a ways, and stopped in a bar to try to catch the first part of the Colts game, but it never happened. We boarded the flight home before kickoff, and it only took 25 minutes home, it was awesome!
Dave dropped me off at home, and Sarah was happy to see me. I was ready to be in a shower, my hair was matted flat with grease and I hadn’t shaved in a week because I forgot my razor so you could call me arm candy, that’s right, I was a looker.
I showed her the souvenirs I got and we caught up as we watched the second half of the Colts game as they won! over the Patriots yet again this year. Brady had something like 5 picks though, so you should loose. I can’t believe they made it through the last two games winning both. Now the pressure is on, the only unbeaten team at 8-0. We got to bed at a reasonable time after the game.
