Pengo at Bidding At Auction in Grand Rapids

I haven’t done a lot with this game since I had problems with it over a month ago. I got the game working for the most part, but it was really loud. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get the volume turned down low enough so that it didn’t hurt my ears.

But, when I would move the coin door, I would get some static noise. The next time I turned the game on, I got garbage on the screen.

So this week, I was looking at an auction site in Grand Rapids, and they have a working Pengo! I was pretty pumped about that. It doesn’t have the sideart, and plays the same stupid soundtrack mine does (Justin went and checked it out), but it would be sweet to get it for cheap and combine the two to get one working one without having to troubleshoot mine. But I also know a good friend of mine wants one too, and he is not too far away, so he may just bid on it as well.

So, I went downstairs and took some photos of the screen I am seeing. I also did some checking with Elektron Forge and Alex to see if he would repair a board, if that was what the problem is. He said he doesn’t work on those boards, so I will have to look somewhere else I guess.

With the auction going down tomorrow, and I without any news answers for my game, and the potential costs to fix it, I will just have to play it by ear. There are a ton of great trade game auctions on ebay right now, and an original Jr. Pac, so I have to just be smart and see if it makes sense.

Nokes first storm, he did pretty good. He has started doing a cute little puppy yip bark, which we try to be good and not encourage.

Today three times he responded to the down command, so now with sit, he is starting to recognize things. I think he is starting to get his name as well.

Tonight Sarah said he was walking the perimiter of the deck. He has certain sides he likes to try to get up on, mostly the west side of the deck because it is closer to the ground obviously. He will run all the way from one side to the other just to use that side.

Another behavioral thing, she said that he appears to be hiding certain toys underneath the couch, and paces around whining looking to hide them again after you find them and pull them out.

They just keep coming, tonight was the first time that he went to the dog and sat when he needed to go out and do “his business”.

Today we got a mostly clean bill of health for our new puppy from the vet, which is really good news for us. He may have some allergies, but we have a lot of good information and he seems to be very healthy. He is still so energetic, he bounces, dashes, and tugs really hard on the rope when we play with him. We never have to worry about him not eating either, he inhales everything we give him, which makes us feel good that he is healthy enough to eat.

Discharged the EZ-20 monitor

Got out today, discharged the monitor, and redid two of the caps.

Second set of Mr. Do! photos from Rob Carroll

Got another zip file today of detail shots of the bezel artwork, thanks a ton Rob. He sent me a close up of most of the characters, so I have something really solid to get a start on now.

I posted on the BYOAC forum about the white Mr. Do sideart, as well as the Mame Artwork forum, so hopefully someone will be kind enough to help me and to know either someone who owns one, or have photos or artwork already themselves. We’ll see, it is a tough find.

Today Nokes started going up the deck and the stairs all by himself. He is still really nervous about going down, he paws at the door and dashes backwards, it’s pretty cute.
