Arcade Artwork

More photos of Agent X robots

Got some new photos tonight from Richard showing the detail in the antenna and mouth of the robot. I got through tracing the mouth, and some other pieces of the robot. I may be able to finish him tomorrow. The photos also showed a close up detail of the border piece I was having issues with in determining the shape. Doing the border of the kickplate, and all the art in general is going to be a lot of work.

Mr. Do! Mustache Guy

Mr. Do Mustache Guy Illustration

All of these guys are weird looking.

Wanting to just finish these characters up and get onto the next step, I did some more work tonight on the two remaining images. I got through some more of the wafer in the ice cream cone, and started to trace what looks like sprinkles. I also finished the guy with the mustache for hair, as you will see to the right. Again, still shooting to finish the ice cream by the weekend, but it may be tomorrow so I am just finished.

Got a lot done on Mr. Do! Ice Cream Dish

Got through a good portion of the tracing tonight, while waiting for someone to call, of the ice cream cone. It would be nice to have it done by the weekend, so that would only leave the other character with the mustache head. He should be fairly easy.

Detailed photos of Agent X robots

Last night I got photos from Richard of the robots, as requested. Today I started, and got a good distance, finishing probably 80% of one robot. The robots all look the same, so I shoud be able to just repeat it on the front to take care of each one, and just scale them accordingly. However, the antennas and the mouth area are a little fuzzy, so I emailed Richard to see if he can get yet closer up photos of those two areas to make sure I trace it correctly.

Hopefully I will have enough done that I can post it by next weekend. Which also means, the sooner I finish up the two pieces, the sooner I can head over to Pittsburg to buy the Jr. Pac-man.

Weird looking Mr. Do! Pasta Guys finished

Mr. Do Three Pasta Guys Illustration
Got three more close up photos from Rob tonight that I didn’t have. One of the ice cream, one of the dopey mustache head guy, and one of the pasta smiley guys. I took today to get started on those, and did the pasta ravioli looking Mr. Do enemy guys, since they seemed fairly easy.

I doubt I will be working on the other two this weekend, the ice cream in particular looks like it will take some time, but hopefully by next weekend I can do one more. There aren’t too many left after these, it will be composing the side art as close as I can without a good tracing source to make it look like the original.

Got hi-res image of Cloak and Dagger marquee

Have made some contacts with some Mame guys who trace for archival purposes, all sorts of old classic arcade artwork. They also had access to the “Joymonkey” website, a site put together by a bunch of guys who bought a copy of Arcade Graphix artwork when they went under. Today via email, I got two pieces I requested, one of which was the Cloak and Dagger marquee which has the robots in it.

It is a hi-res scan, but I still think some small details of the robots are missing. I will take a closer look at it this weekend.

Apple and Clown finished for Mr. Do! Bezel

Mr. Do Clown Illustration
Mr. Do Apple

Well, it was a lot more work than I thought. The clown took a good amount of work to not only look correct, but to make sure it prints correctly and at a larger size. But I did finish both the apple and the clown for my Mr. Do sideart, check out some small images of them.
