Cap Kit for Wizard Of Wor
I finally got the capacitor kit for the Wells Gardner monitor today. Last week, when I had the whole week off I had intentions of going up to get the Wizard Of Wor Cap Kit, but wanted to combine a trip with something else, or take a bike ride. Well, needless to say, I never got around to it.
So, I got stuck with it this week, and it involved two long trips to Meunier (Indianapolis) to get it. One day to drop off the list, and then another day to go get it. It was significantly cheaper than getting it online though. I think without gas it cost about $6.75, and if you count my gas, maybe another $2. Not to mention, they didn’t have one of the caps, so I had to then run over to King’s Electronics down the street and get the last one. (Their prices suck, usually they are about 3x higher than Meunier)
Now it is Thursday, and I don’t know when I will get to do it. It is so hot outside and we have guests this weekend. Hopefully I will get to take the monitor out of the Wizard Of Wor at least and discharge it before the weekend is up.
Mappy Cabinet in Dayton area
I had to pull teeth to get any information on this cab in Dayton area. I had seen a post right after I got back from vacation about a Mappy cabinet for $15. But for the price, the people didn’t want to do any photos.
I don’t understand people. Now hard is it to take a couple of photos? You will waste more time answering silly questions than if you take three digital photos and post them somewhere.
Well, they were going to destroy it by the 10th, and I didn’t want that to happen either. The price was great, I was ready to take a risk in driving all the way to at least see it.
But at least I asked the right question and found out it had no topper piece. I would have been pissed if I went all the way over there to get it and it was without that. I might consider taking it for free, but it isn’t worth my time otherwise.
Gotta keep hoping another Mappy cab, complete or not, comes up close to me. They sure are hard to come by.
Jr. Pac-man in Santa Maria, CA
At least this one was so far away that I didn’t worry too much about it.
But a nice looking machine. I bet Michael in Sunnyvale, CA is kicking himself that he had that one shipped from Traverse City when this one is obviously closer. The one in Traverse was nicer looking, but this one in Santa Maria is really good too, and I hate it that it is in my price range but all the way across the country.
I emailed the guy to see if I could get a serial, and hoping for a response that I could later contact to find out the buyer. But I haven’t gotten a return email.
Maybe I’ll email Michael and see if he already shipped his or not. Maybe we can work something out:)
Jr. Pac-man dedicated in Arkansas
One collector had told me that when you have a hard to come by game pop up on ebay, and go for a lot of money, all of a sudden you will see more of that game come out of the woodwork, usually operators looking to cash in.
Lately it seems like there have been a good deal of Jr. Pac-man’s on ebay that are dedicated but have Mappy sideart.
When we got back from Gatlinburg I saw that there was a Jr. Pac-man in Arkansas that was up for sale. It had been in storage for awhile, and the town was out in the middle of nowhere.
I asked for more photos, the three on ebay weren’t the best, and from I could see it seemed pretty beat up. I did get more photos, and the machine is beat to hell. I don’t think it would get much more than $200-$250 from a local collector and less from me since I would need to drive so far to get it.
I have been in touch with the lady who is selling it, she says she isn’t going to take less than $500 for it and is going to relist on ebay.
Good luck. I have been wrong before. The Jr. Pac-man in Marion, OH with painted black sides finally sold for $695 after being on ebay for a year, so you never know. Sometimes it just takes that buyer that just “has to have it.”
Forgot Dig Dug connector orientation
Well, forgot the orientation of the edge connector the board. I hooked everything else back up, got to that and had a brainfart, so I will have to look up the pinout again.
Photo of Wizard of Wor PCB
Got a photo today from a collector of their Wizard of Wor PCB. They have a cabaret version of the game, however, and after looking at the photo and looking at the owner’s notes, the Wizard of Wor PCB for a cabaret is a little different than the dedicated upright version.
Here is the photo if you are interested.
New Dig Dug PCB edge connector
Got outside tonight and soldered on the new edge connector for the Dig Dug. I was glad I had did one once already with the Ms. Pac-man machine, so I knew how to attach it properly. Or, so I hope. I haven’t tested it yet, I actually had a drop of sweat hit the board, so I thought to be safe I should let it dry for a day. Here’s hoping it works without issue and I can get it on ebay.
