Chris Moore’s Halloween Arcade Game Party in Chicago – Ongoing
For all of you guys who couldn’t make it tonight, I thought I would post a quick update on what is going on with the arcade party down here in Palos Park. My feet are killing me so its a perfect time for a break.
There are a ton of people here, probably right around the 60 people Chris thought he would have. The gameroom looks awesome with Chris’s new
Troy Akey’s NIB Atari Football
It’s been just about a month since Troy Akey’s party in Chicago. Like everyone else, I was blown away by his collection of immaculate games. There was one game in particular that was most noteworthy to me, his NIB (New In Box) Atari Football. If you don’t already know, Troy got his Atari Football from that old abandoned Time Travel warehouse in Canada.
Ning vs. Klov Round 2 – RSS Feeds
In continuing to spotlight why the Ning Arcade Game Collecting Community is so much better than the Klov arcade game forums and why you should consider switching here is a major feature that can make your life easier – RSS feeds.
If you use RSS for reading information already, you already know the value you can get in savings loads of time, keeping up with all information, and aggregating multiple websites of information into one simple program. How much time? I would guess that if you spend 1-3 hours a day reading arcade game forums and Craigslist listings you could save up to half of that time! Here’s the comparison.
Maneater – Have the Roms ever been dumped?
Does anyone know about this one? I know Maneaters are hard to come by, but have the roms from a working PCB ever been dumped from this game? Does someone have a link to where they are hosted online? I have searched some of the more predominant Mame rom websites and didn’t see anything at first blush.
Removing Sideart? Save & Color Match.
If you are a serious arcade game collector, chances are during the time you’ve been collecting you picked up a repulsive conversion cabinet that at one time was probably a much better game. You may have intentions of reverting that arcade back to it’s previous glory, or maybe you are just restoring a game that had a bad paint job. Part of that restoration is removing the artwork, you’re thinking you’ll just peel off the sideart and trash it.
If you’re thinking of ripping that artwork up, here are a couple of considerations for savings yourself time and money while helping the rest of the arcade game community.
Ning vs. Klov Round 1 – Usernames
The Klov arcade game forums suck for usability, and don’t take advantage of many of the modern ideas for managing discussions online.
Here is one way that Ning social communities totally blows the Klov forums (hosted at forums.webmagic.com) out of the water for managing your profile – your username.
Tools needed to repair arcade games
Interesting post from the Klov arcade game forum from the week, tools for repairing arcade games.
The original post was titled ‘Which tools should be on the ultimate test bench?‘ and there were some awesome contributions for tools that are needed for diagnosing and repairing arcade games from monitors, to power supplies to PCB (game boards).
Have suggestions to add to this list?
- Should it be broken up by section – meaning should we list the tools needed under ‘Monitors’, ‘PCBs’, etc.
- Should it be categorized by beginner, intermediate or advanced?
- What tools are missing?
- Can we add links for best place to buy these tools?
- Can we add definitions of the tools and how they’re used?
Even tools you might make yourself. Leave a comment and I’ll add your suggestions so we can fill out this list for anyone interested in trying to repair their own favorite classic arcade.
