Cinematronics Ripoff Sideart by Archer

Soon after the eBay auctions for the NOS arcade artwork from the PA warehouse ended there was a Klov thread asking which of the NOS arcade artwork pieces collectors would like to see reproduced. At least 6 said that they would be interested in buying a set of reproduction Ripoff sideart. This is interesting because back in 2002 Archer Maclean made inkjet reproductions of the Ripoff sideart, probably 20-30 pieces, and you would think that would have sucked up all demand. but it sounds like only a handful, some of which may have been used on his own machine and another set which may be in the hands of another collector, 2-3 sets and that is it.

However, the most interesting part of this is that when you do a general Google search you can’t find any mention of Archer’s Ripoff artwork. That got me investigating the ‘why not’, the science of indexing pdf’s / Ionpool’s website and I was left asking, why would Tom McClintock want to make it more difficult for a new collector to find the great resources at his website?

Scramble Control Panel Artwork Finished

As I mentioned in my first post about the Scramble control panel artwork progress, this was a project that I started in May but got shelved because it was discovered that QuarterArcade.com still has a handful of these in stock from when Anthony bought out the remainder of Jason Fowler’s arcade artwork inventory.

Jason originally made reproductions of the Scramble control panel, screening the artwork directly onto the metal. However, finding mentions of Jason’s Scramble artwork from 2002-2003 are hard to come by, so I thought I would post my final progress on the artwork before we moved on.

Request for photos of Two-Bits Pac-man artwork

Continuing on with arcade artwork comparisons and reviews, I am looking for photos of any piece of reproduction Pac-man artwork that you have bought from Two-Bits. Here are some ideas of artwork that I am looking for;

  • Pac-man Cabaret – Marquee, control panel overlay, monitor bezel
  • Pac-man Cocktail – Glass underlay, control panel overlays
  • Pac-man Upright – Marquee, control panel overlays, kickplate, sideart, monitor bezel glass

Ms. Pac-man bezel differences

I had made a formal request for photos of anyone who has bought a Two-Bits reproduction Ms. pac-man glass bezel so I could do a comparison of the original verses the re-print, kind of like I did for the Ms. Pac-man marquee artwork comparison. The photos are in, and the post won’t be nearly as long, but here are some of the differences.

Scramble Control Panel Repros

In the middle of April, a collector contacted me about a reproduction assignment involving control panels for Stern’s classic arcade game Scramble. You might say, “Didn’t Arcade Renovations already reproduce Scramble control panels?” They did. But he did some checking around and every indication told him that they hadn’t been done, so I just went with the flow.

Sega Pengo Side Art Alternate Version

I’ve been excitedly waiting for two weeks and my new piece of arcade game artwork has arrived! I worked out a deal and was able to secure the Pengo sideart from the QuarterArcade.com warehouse raid. Check out the photos.

Arcade Artwork eBay Results – Round 1

Gay French Mario Brothers
The results are in, the auctions have ended and the final results are in for the first round of the recently unearthed, unapplied arcade game artwork from the QuarterArcade.com warehouse raid. There were a handful of pieces that went for over $200! That price leaves some of us spinning, and others….well as gay as french Mario, trapeze and all.

Richard Ford was in the mix again proving that he will always set the standard for the value of NOS arcade game artwork. Check out some of the results after the jump.
