Arcade Artwork: Researching past arcade reproductions

For all of the great arcade websites that exist for collectors to interact and collaborate, I have not come across many articles that I would consider a “primer” series stepping a potential future collector through the process of having arcade artwork reproduced. There are a lot of small nuances and skills that go into a run of reproduction artwork and we are going to try to cover all of the main points in this series.

Bally Mappy Cabinet Project

Did a little swaperoo last Friday with another member on the board, good to meet ya Jeff. Have I told you I think your parents were brilliant in naming you? Jeff had a Mappy cabinet that was converted into a Kicker, which he says is a terrible game (I’ll take his word and not waste my time).

Arcade Game Bookmarks with Diigo

Has this ever happened to you? Three years ago during the course of my normal working day my Firefox was corrupted and all of a sudden I lost 100’s of bookmarks never to be seen again. Gone! Poof! Now, I had backed them up, but like any normal person, did I back them up every day? Hell no.

Immediately I thought, “This is ineffecient, surely there must be a better way of storing offline booksmarks.” At the time online ‘social bookmarking’ services, where we store and share bookmarks with others, were just coming into prominance so I gave it a shot and never turned back. Why is this important for bookmarking arcade game resources? Read on and I will explain in depth.

Mappy Marquee

Currently I have a Mappy cabinet that was converted to a Kicker. The marquee box was sawed in half and needs to be reconstructed. This is a long term project, and as of this writing (Jan, 2009) the cabinet sits in the corner awaiting a restoration to probably a brand new Jr. Pac-man.

Artwork Engraved Arcade Keychains

Brian Jones (Oleszak Creative) has a new pet project. He is fabricating aluminum keychains from raw materials and then laser engraving them with original arcade game artwork! How cool is that?

Donkey Kong WordPress Theme – Ver. 1

I was surprised that I didn’t get more votes on my poll about arcade game WordPress Themes. Not sure if many collectors don’t care, if they thought I wouldn’t really make the themes or what.

I got two votes for Donkey Kong, so here is the first version of a Donkey Kong WordPress theme. Now I do want to hear from you. What would you like to see and keep these things in mind;

  • This is a simple theme. I want to keep it that way, extra WordPress
