DECO The Tower Artwork – That got away

Back in September of last year I came across an auction for an arcade part to a largely unknown Data East game on eBay Germany. A quick post today to share the artwork from that game and a bit about how this story didn’t work out how I expected.

DECO The Tower – Control Panel & Overlay

I was pretty excited to come across an auction for a panel to a DECO The Tower machine. Let’s get to the photo!

DECO The Tower Arcade Game - Control Panel

For folks that enjoy the Data East artwork from this era with simplistic design elements and use, this panel doesn’t disappoint. Based on the photo the panel and overlay looked to be in excellent shape and appeared to have little to no blemishes – just extremely dirty.

Alas, my package never arrived from last Sept. I had this panel and other piece of artwork that just disappeared somewhere in the Cincinnati OH USPS distribution center. After many calls to multiple locations I don’t think this panel will ever make its way to me. The bright side – when USPS auctions off this item with its other lost packages maybe it will land into the hands of another stateside collector 🙁 I’m told the lost & found center for USPS is in Atlanta, GA – if someone comes across this item down in that area I’d love to hear from you.

Closing

I’ve only ever heard of one other claim that this machine was owned by another collector. If you have any photos of a DECO The Tower machine and are willing to share – I would love to see them. Please reach out.

Update: October 2019
Out of the blue, my Germany package showed up on my doorstep nearly 13 months later. I am now in possession of this The Tower control panel and my Zero Hour panel as originally planned. Shocked! but happy that this worked out in the end, albeit entirely too long.
