What’s it worth? Williams Defender sold in Georgia

In today’s edition of ‘What’s it worth?’, here is a recently ended auction on eBay for a Williams Defender that sold just west of Savannah, GA.

Williams Defender – One example final price

Defender was one in a series of popular games released by Williams in their heyday. The auction we’re looking at today didn’t have much information about the game, and only contained a single photo.

The original description, whee!:

DEFENDER ARCADE MACHINE by WILLIAMS Used. Condition is Used. Local pickup only.

Final Bid Price for the Defender: $1,000

There is a limited amount of insight we could glean from a single photo and the description. This cabinet has a silver, three slot coin door. It is widely believed that Defenders with this style coin door were part of the earlier run of machines that Williams produced. Later in production Williams switched over to the more common black coin door.

The kickplate artwork is in good shape, its hard to see the condition of the bezel and the control panel overlay. Hopefully the buyer got some additional information about its history and working state before they made the purchase….or maybe they were looking for a project while they are in quarantine 😉
