Pinball

Have you met my friend Ted?…err, Herb

Oh, and Herb and I aren’t ‘friends’, no more than just connection ‘friends’ on Facebook. I hadn’t heard Herb Silvers name until a week or so ago when the Lock Ness pinball machine sold for over $20,000 on eBay and it was casually mentioned that Herb was a previous owner. It appears Herb has built completely custom pinball machines, is an expert enthusiast, and he has a killer photo album on Facebook of prototype and rare pinball machines that is a must see. (more…)

Pinball Expo 2009 – Enjoyed seeing a couple of unique machines

Couple of weeks ago already was Pinball Expo 2009. I wasn’t going to go even though I had fun at Expo 2008, but I got a friend interested so we headed up. I know the group I went with left with a feeling as if this show wasn’t as good as last year. But there were a couple of pins there that I hadn’t seen before and without doing a ton of research, I know you wouldn’t see every day. (more…)

The ‘almost’ Craigslist $35 cocktail deal

The morning routine – Oatmeal, juice, email and then Craigslist. I sat down at about 7:30 yesterday and saw a listing for an ‘old table game non working’ that was posted the night prior just after 10pm. At the worst I figured it could be a Sega cocktail cabinet with those ugly metal legs. But, ‘worst’ ended up being a relative term. (more…)

Got the Hyperball working

After a 10 day wait that saved me $5, my replacement interlock switch arrived at Meunier last Friday. I was glad I got off early to go pick it up, because when I popped it in my Hyperball worked just fine. (more…)

Illinois Pinball Warehouse – Pinball plastic molds & parts

Ah to pick Gene Cuningham’s brain for a good long weekend. I’ve love to have an in depth story about the circumstances and the work involved in buying out the remnants of Bally / Williams back in the 90’s. Maybe soon, but for now it’s the old primrose path. A little while ago I got a hold of some photos showing off some of the molds that James of Pinball Inc. is hoping to use to reproduce plastics for some of our most beloved machines. (more…)

Problems still with my Hyperball pinball

This weekend Chris brought down a bunch of games and some other goodies, including a my Hyperball MPU and Driver boards. A tech friend that I trust that knows what he’s doing did a diagnostic on the boards and made sure they were working. But when we powered on the Hyperball machine hoping to go mad shooting 55 pinballs at high speed we still had some issues. I am trying to figure things out for myself and here are my thoughts so far. Picked up a Stern Wild Fyre Pinball this weekend

I had been in touch with a gal here in Indianapolis (originally through this website) since May about this 1978 Stern Wild Fyre, but it wasn’t until Thursday night that I realized they weren’t in southern Greenwood but only two miles away. This weekend Chris was down for a visit and I had rented a trailer for him to bring down some games, so it was the perfect time to go and pick up this pinball. (more…)
